Charles Melnyk's Lab

The lab and collaborators published today a comprehensive analysis of gene expression dynamics at the graft junction. We revealed a recognition process whereby the grafted root can rapidly detect the presence of the shoot to activate vascular formation pathways. This recognition appears to function independently of vascular connections, and likely involves auxin. The transcriptome will provide a ton of data for future projects and will hopefully be a useful resource for the community. The paper can be found here.
